AEH Industrial Metrology is a precision measurement manufacturer founded in 1997, building coordinate measuring machines, optical measuring machines and its own metrology software.

The full company name is Xi'an AEH Industrial Metrology Co., Ltd. Headquarters and the 12,000 m² development and manufacturing site are in Xi'an, with capacity for over 3,000 machines a year.

Engineering runs across three centres — Xi'an, Aschaffenburg in Germany and Cholet in France — behind a range of 12 series and more than 220 models. Over 10,000 customers have been supplied to date.

Founder Dr Song Jianzhong took his doctorate at TU Dresden under Prof. W. Lotze, one of the field's leading authorities on coordinate measurement.

AEH's engineering has a German lineage and is developed across three countries, while the core technology — software, controllers and machine design — is owned outright by the company.

Founder Dr Song Jianzhong studied under Prof. W. Lotze at TU Dresden, and the senior engineering team was trained in the German precision measurement tradition. AEH acquired the German Mora brand in 2009 and runs development centres in Aschaffenburg, Germany and Cholet, France, alongside Xi'an.

Manufacturing is consolidated at a 12,000 m² site in Xi'an. Because the measurement software and control systems are our own, customers are not exposed to third-party licensing or export restrictions on the parts that matter most.

AEH holds more than 120 proprietary intellectual property rights and is established in aerospace and defence manufacturing, where accuracy requirements are unforgiving.

In 2003 AEH won a competitive tender against established international brands on measurement throughput and accuracy, taking an order from a major aerospace manufacturer. It was the first time a Chinese-built CMM entered the sector, and the machines are now standard equipment in quality control at major aero engine manufacturers.

The MGH series reaches 0.5μm+L/1000, and NET·DMIS, our own measurement software, carries German PTB certification — independent verification against the international benchmark.

AEH is a nationally recognised specialised and innovative enterprise and one of the first plants certified at the highest national smart factory tier, and has helped draft three national and industry standards.

Accuracy is held by a lifecycle system covering four things: materials, manufacturing, software compensation and scheduled calibration. The aim is to keep drift predictable rather than merely small.

Materials. Precision granite guideways and air bearings have a low, stable coefficient of thermal expansion, so the structure itself resists temperature change.

Manufacturing. Our Xi'an site has over 5,000 m² of temperature-controlled assembly and fine-adjustment rooms held at 20±0.5°C. Every machine passes accuracy testing and at least 24 hours of continuous stability verification before it ships.

Software. NET·DMIS applies thermal compensation automatically, correcting results as ambient temperature moves.

Calibration. AEH is certified to ISO 9001, and every machine ships with indication error and probing error test reports. Annual on-site calibration is available, carried out with reference standards and documented in a certificate traceable to national standards. Customers can also monitor accuracy continuously through the EMRP quality management platform, which flags degradation before it affects parts.

Yes — machine design, controllers, measurement software and the underlying algorithms are all developed in-house, backed by more than 120 proprietary intellectual property rights. AEH was the first Chinese manufacturer to own the complete stack for coordinate measuring machines.

Software. From the original AC-DMIS through to today's NET·DMIS, everything is our own work. NET·DMIS holds German PTB certification, supports a range of operating environments, and converts programs and data both ways with PC-DMIS and CALYPSO.

Controllers. NET·DMIS drives DCC, PANTEC, UCC and UWC4000i controllers, among others.

Hardware. The range covers bridge, gantry, cantilever and shop-floor machines, with the MGH series reaching 0.5μm+L/1000.

What this means in practice: software updates, algorithm changes and fault response never wait on a third party, and nothing critical is exposed to export restrictions.
