Symptoms:
The software displays the message “Homing Failed.”
Cause Analysis:
- The machine is not powered on.
- Homing speed is set too high.
- Limit or home signals are not detected.
- Foreign objects interfere with the machine’s normal movement.
- During homing, the machine stops between the home magnet and limit magnet, and if the homing mode is set to “home,” the home signal cannot be captured successfully, causing homing failure.
Recommended Solutions:
- Ensure the machine is properly powered on before performing the homing operation when prompted by the software.
- Set the homing speed correctly; generally, it should be limited to 50 mm/s or less.
- Check if the limit switch is triggered during homing; verify correct detection of limit signals. For linear encoders with home magnets and home signals, carefully check and adjust the read head position to ensure it can properly capture the home signal.
- Inspect the machine’s movement path for any foreign objects that could obstruct normal homing motion.
- Check the machine’s stop position after shutdown. If the read head is between the limit magnet and home magnet, manually move the machine inside the home magnet range using the hand controller after powering on, then perform homing.
- For the issue described in item 5, modify the homing method in the Pantec, DCC, UCC, SB controller system to first search for the limit signal and then capture the home signal. This can resolve homing failures caused by the machine stopping exactly between the limit and home magnets upon startup.
