Gear Measuring Machines

Gear quality cannot be judged from point-by-point probing on a general-purpose CMM. Profile and helix are continuous curves that must be scanned and compared against theoretical involute and helical paths. A gear measuring centre couples a high-accuracy rotary axis with linear axes to output standard profile, helix, cumulative pitch and runout charts, graded to ISO, DIN or AGMA. It covers cylindrical and bevel gears, worms and wormwheels, splines, and gear cutting tools such as hobs and shaving cutters.
