Gantry Type CMMs

A gantry carries its crossbeam on two columns, with the workpiece resting on the foundation rather than a table. Load capacity is therefore not limited by a table, and travel can extend to several metres. This suits aerospace structural parts, automotive body dies, engine blocks and large gearbox housings. Closed-frame construction with dual drives and dual readheads suppresses torsional error across wide spans, holding accuracy over long travel.
