The Atlas series is a moving-gantry coordinate measuring machine that uses the foundation floor itself as the table, which is what allows it to take workpieces beyond conventional machine envelopes.
A fully enclosed cast iron frame provides rigidity, and all three axes run on self-cleaning preloaded air bearings. Travel ranges and accuracy classes for each model appear in the specification table below.
Key features
- Moving gantry over a floor-level table, accommodating workpieces too large for a conventional machine
- Fully enclosed cast iron frame for frame rigidity, smoother motion and better dynamic accuracy
- Self-cleaning preloaded high-accuracy air bearings on all three axes — wide bearing span, strong yaw resistance, no wear
- Slot-mounted linear scales give a reliable length reference and support precise thermal correction
- Four-axis closed-loop position feedback at 0.1µm resolution, protecting repeatability
- Raised on both sides with dual drives and dual readheads to reduce yaw in Y
- Patented Y-axis drive for smooth, quiet, accurate motion
- Optional powered transfer car whose deck becomes the table, simplifying part handling and allowing multiple orientations to be measured in one setup
